Facebook and Procrastination

We have too many things to say thanks to Facebook or most commonly known as FB. But there are also things that we should consider such as procrastination.

Once we are in front of our computer or laptop, we sometimes forget that we have left something undone or a work to start at or finish to. Yes. FB has helped in many ways: (1) we can reach out and communicate to our family and friends who were away from us; (2) we can trace long lost friends and relatives; (3) make new friends; and (4) socialize. But these should not overrule our lives and we should take them moderately. Unknowingly, we did not notice that we have consumed our supposed time to be used for finishing or doing our assignments or assigned tasks.

While it has helped us in keeping in touch, sharing our lives, nurturing relationships and even helping charitable organizations because of being active in the network, we were not able to perceive that we are using much of our time doing unnecessary and insensible things in FB. It is also atypical of a person to rather tend his ‘Farm Town’ or ‘CityVille’, or taking quizzes and answering questions that will reveal things like ‘Who Loves You Today?’ when he could spend his time engaging in a far more productive activities.

Facebook is an ultimate way of a person to procrastinate and the realization that one has spent his day playing ‘Mafia wars’ is a bitter reality. These habits are impossible to break and are addictive. In fact, it was found out in a social networking research that Facebook users who were working and were in their workplace log on in their accounts, putting their livelihood to jeopardy.

Now, take this: We should learn to manage our time and take social networking as a way of relaxation. But more of this is dangerous. We should put into priority on what needs our attention most before engaging in an activity which we think is worthwhile. TOO MUCH OF FACEBOOK IS A WASTE OF TIME.
